May 25th WIE Fika at Mindpark, Helsingborg
We had the opportunity to be back in Helsingborg and continue to meet inspiring female founders; some old, some new after successful meetups in the city in 2021. It was a great time to be in Helsingborg during the H22 City Expo, an initiative that aims to develop and improve the quality of life in a smarter, sustainable way.
Focusing on the theme of 'Women in Tech' and #femtech, our Head of Women in Entrepreneurship, Katalin Vikuk opened the conversation by focusing specifically on Female Tech or Femtech, defining the term and reflecting on its necessity in today's scenario. Entrepreneur Ida Tin coined the term femtech in 2016 for products and services that support women's health.
We talked about the urgency of promoting employee wellness in the workplace by taking responsibility for the need for mental health issues. Emma emphasized that the HETCH Accelerator program she leads and oversees pays special attention to ensuring the mental health of program participants especially because they are at the start of their entrepreneurial journey and early-on failures that dilute their behavior.
Another interesting discussion that caught everyone’s attention was when Katalin introduced reflections on the 'Effectuation theory of Entrepreneurship' by Dr. Sara Saraswathy. A theory that explains the multi-layered processes entrepreneurs go through to create new ventures In her paper, ‘What makes entrepreneurs entrepreneurial?’, Saraswathy presents the definition of entrepreneurship and answers the age-old question of how entrepreneurs operate and what exactly do they do?
