A Global Gathering of Climate Visionaries
Last year, The Drop gathered over 500 climate founders, investors, and experts from around the world. It brought an astounding 100 billion USD in investable climate funds under one roof, maintaining a commendable 1:1 ratio of founders to investors. This equilibrium provided fertile ground for collaboration and innovation. In 2023, it had almost 1000 climate founders, investors, and experts!
Driving Climate Solutions Forward
The core mission of The Drop was to unite climate-focused investors from Europe and beyond, acting as a catalyst for inspiration, knowledge-sharing, and valuable connections. Unlike one-off events, The Drop had solidified its status as an annual gathering where startups, investors, and thought leaders congregated to explore groundbreaking solutions.
Though The Drop Conference typically operated on an invite-only basis, it actively encouraged those passionate about addressing the climate crisis to join the waiting list for potential participation. The recent edition, The Drop 2023, was a day of enthusiasm, purpose, and action. Attendees could engage in stimulating discussions, profound dialogues, and explore investment opportunities aimed at mitigating the climate crisis.
A Catalyst for Meaningful Change
The Drop Conference served as a dynamic hub where passionate individuals connected, collaborated, and invested in addressing the climate crisis. Its mission was straightforward: to be a driving force towards a sustainable future. By creating a platform where ideas were transformed into action, The Drop empowered climate-led initiatives to thrive and catalyze the change urgently needed in our world.
Committed to Sustainability and Diversity
At The Drop, sustainability and diversity were not mere buzzwords but fundamental principles deeply integrated into the event's fabric. Every procurement and partnership decision during The Drop's inception and execution adhered to Almi's sustainability and diversity policies. This unwavering commitment ensured that sustainability and inclusivity permeated every aspect of the event.
Meet the Creators: Pale Blue Dot and Domino
Pale Blue Dot, based in Malmö, Sweden, invested in seed-stage climate tech startups striving to combat and reverse the climate crisis. Their two funds, totaling €180 million, supported early-stage companies across Europe and the United States.
Domino, a pioneering business design studio, partnered with climate-led companies to devise strategies, brands, products, and services. They championed audacious visions, translating them into tangible solutions that reshaped entire industries.
Funding and Organizing Partners
Through "IRIS – Investment Readiness in Skåne," The Drop was made possible and financially supported by the European Regional Development Fund via the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, Almi, Malmö Stad, Region Skåne, and Skåne Startups. These partners played instrumental roles in driving The Drop Conference's mission and advancing climate tech innovation.
