What's your story before Skåne Startups?

Sri Lanka is where I was born and raised. Administration and management have been a constant theme throughout my working career. I've worked in the education, banking, and cargo industries for over 12 years and have a master's degree in business administration. I was an Academic Administration Manager for a reputable Sri Lankan healthcare institution before joining Skåne Startups.

By moving to Sweden, I was able to start on a new career path. I spent a lot of time considering that career during my first few months in Sweden. I decided that this time, I would try out a career that allowed me to employ the creative side of my brain since I've always had one.  I choose to plan coordinate and organize events.

Being actively involved in the startup community has been gratifying. Therefore, I've made it my life's work to promote good change and support the startup and innovation ecosystems in order for aspirational entrepreneurs and innovators to succeed.

Why did you want to work for Skåne Startups?

The people and the community. Skåne Startups is brimming with international talent with a wide range of personal and work perspectives, which fosters an environment that is open and accepting and gives you the chance to get to know and become friends with people you might not have otherwise encountered. In southern Sweden, there is a vibrant and upbeat startup culture. Being able to work in a community where everyone is there to have a positive influence made me feel quite grateful.

What is your advice for other talents?

I consider starting your own business to be both a difficult and rewarding endeavor. Take your time to appreciate your strengths and consider how special you are as a result. Keep in touch with those who motivate you on your journey. Dream big, then act quickly and practically. Be active in the community since there are so many smart, seasoned businesspeople there who can provide you advice as you go.

What are you unreasonably passionate about?

Connecting groups. My day is definitely made when I have the chance to create connections between individuals and groups. Apart from that, I enjoy exploring & traveling to new places.
